What we collect

Purchases ‚

Your email address and payment details are processed by Stripe; we never see card numbers. We store your email and licence key to run your subscription.

Licence activation

An anonymous device identifier (a one-way hash, not your serial number) and the Mac's name, so you can see and manage which of your Macs are activated.

Your photos never leave your machines. Copying, backups and naming all run locally; if you connect your own cloud storage, uploads go directly from your Mac to your account.

What we don't do

No analytics trackers, no advertising, no selling data.

Your rights

Email us to access or delete your data at any time. Deleting your licence data ends your ability to activate the app.

Service data, by app

  • Photolino View — a sign-in account (name, email, studio name) and your studio settings (pricing, products, frames, rooms) so they sync between your Macs. Client photos, orders and folios stay on your Mac. If the app crashes or freezes it sends a short technical report (app version, macOS version, Mac name and the point where it failed) so we can fix it — never photos or client details.

  • Photolino Social — the social accounts you connect (and the access tokens needed to post on your behalf), your scheduled posts and their images, and the captions you write, so posts can publish at the scheduled time even when your Mac is asleep. AI features (auto-tags, captions, ideas) send the photo and your instructions to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate the text; they are not used to train AI models.

  • Photolino Copy — nothing beyond purchase and licence activation. Cards, backups and cloud uploads go straight from your Mac to your own storage.

GDPR and UK data protection

Photolino (Peter Thomas Online) is the data controller for the personal data described on this page. We process it under the UK GDPR and, for customers in the EU/EEA, the EU GDPR.

  • Lawful basis — performing our contract with you (selling and running the apps, your subscription and licences); our legitimate interests in keeping the apps working and secure (crash and error reports, fraud prevention); and, for marketing emails, your consent — which you can withdraw at any time.

  • Processors — we use a small number of trusted providers who process data on our instructions: Stripe (payments), Supabase (accounts, licences, settings sync, scheduled posts), Anthropic (AI captions and tags in Photolino Social), and the social networks you choose to connect. Some are based outside the UK/EEA; transfers are covered by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

  • Retention — account and licence data is kept while you have an account and for up to 6 years after your last purchase for tax and accounting records; technical error reports for 12 months; scheduled-post data until you delete the post or close your account.

  • Your rights — you can ask for a copy of your personal data, have it corrected or deleted, have processing restricted, object to processing, and receive your data in a portable format. Email info@photolino.com — we respond within one month. Deleting your licence data ends your ability to activate the app.

  • Complaints — if you're unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), or to your local supervisory authority in the EU/EEA.

  • Children — the apps are business tools for photographers and are not intended for anyone under 16. Photos of children that you, as the photographer, process in the apps stay on your Mac; you remain the controller for your own clients' data.
